About our Lay Witness Weekend?

A Lay Witness Weekend is a time when a team of ordinary people from other Methodist churches come to share with us what God has done, and is doing, in their lives. Our theme Ordinary People – Extra-ordinary God sums up exactly what a Lay Witness is all about.

The team will talk about circumstances and situations which they have come through and how God has helped them on this journey. There is something very powerful when others are vulnerable and share their story.

The weekend will include lots of opportunities to have meals together as a congregation; evening meetings when we will hear personal testimonies of what God has done in the lives of the team interspersed with times of praise; a Men’s Breakfast; Coffee Mornings in various homes; and some youth and children’s events. The weekend will conclude with a Sunday evening meeting when the team has gone home and we have an opportunity to reflect and share about some of the things that God has done in our lives throughout the weekend – this is often the most powerful and inspirational part of the whole weekend.

Please save the dates 23-25 February, you may need to start thinking about any childcare arrangements that you might need to make so that you can set aside the entire weekend and be fully involved. Please start to pray for this special event.

Typically a Lay Witness Weekend brings a fantastic opportunity for personal renewal and recommitment to God, as well as an opportunity to invite others who have not been to church in a long time, or who don’t know Jesus, to hear what a difference He has made in ordinary people’s lives. Of course, we don’t need to wait until February before any of that can happen but a Lay Witness Weekend gives a particular focus and have been used powerfully wherever they have taken place.

Please keep this very important weekend very much in your prayers and we would encourage you to pray with others in prayer triplets or squares or when you are meeting in a Connect group or church organisation. We pray that you will start to look forward and get excited about what God is going to do in and through all of us in the months to come.
