Being Good Neighbours

Keynote session with Dr John Kyle

When Jesus was asked ‘who is my neighbour?’ he told a story of compassion, courage and a willingness to reach out to the other, the story of the Good Samaritan. For all of us who have experienced God’s grace we will find that there are ‘good works of courage and compassion which God prepared long ago for us to do’, works that can have an enduring influence in the lives of our neighbours and in our neighbourhoods.

John Kyle and other invited guests will be discussing the role of the Church in society and addressing questions such as:

What does it mean to love your neighbour?

How should we respond to injustice?

How can we empower Christians to be transformational in the places where they live work and socialise?

There will also be small group discussion times with feedback from the floor and Q&As.

The cost to attend ‘Being Good Neighbours’ is £15 per person including tea/coffee.

The Gift of Years

Keynote session with Debbie Thrower

The Gift of Years programme aims to inspire, equip and enable your Church to meet the spiritual needs of older people wherever they may be - in the congregation, in residential care, in their own homes and in the community.

The Gift of Years programme from The Bible Reading Fellowship, BRF, helps congregations and communities welcome the opportunities and rise to the challenges of greater longevity, and the growing numbers of people living with dementia.

Anna Chaplaincy (named after the widow Anna who appears with Simeon in Luke’s gospel- both good role models of faithful older people) is a proven model for supporting older people, promoting spiritual welfare, and inspiring, equipping and enabling churches to meet the needs of their communities grappling with the changing landscape of old age.

This seminar shows how you can recruit the right people to be Anna Chaplains in your part of the world, supplementing good work already happening, and so help more people prepare for retirement, deepen their later life discipleship, be accompanied in the final months and weeks of life, and make the most of ‘the gift of years’.

The cost to attend ‘The Gift of Years’ is £15 per person including tea/coffee.
